Pro & EnterpriseMulti-language support requires a Pro or Enterprise subscription.
Compare plansLayota supports multiple languages for map content. Visitors see areas and markers in their preferred language.
Adding Languages
- Open the Localization panel in the editor sidebar
- Add languages you want to support (e.g., English, Russian, German)
- Set a default language — used when no translation is available

Translating Content
For each area and marker, you can provide translations of:
- Title
- Description
- Status label
- Features
- Custom button label — the button's icon and URL are shared, only the text changes per language. An empty translation falls back to the default-language label.
Tag names are translated once per tag in the Tags panel (a tag is shared by every area and marker that carries it) — see Tags.
Open any area or marker, pick the language in Multilingual Content, and enter the translated text. Every field that follows the language select carries a small language chip (for example DE) next to its label — including the status label and the custom button label, which sit in Properties next to their shared settings (status type, button icon and URL).
Language Selection
The displayed language is determined by (in priority order):
- SDK
languageoption — explicitly set in code - Embed URL
langparameter — e.g.,?lang=de - Project default language — configured in settings
- Fallback — original (untranslated) content
SDK Example
typescript
const map = new LayotaMap({
container: '#map',
projectId: 'your-project-id',
language: 'de', // initial language
})
// Switch language at runtime
map.setLanguage('ru')
// Listen for language changes
map.on('languageChange', ({ language }) => {
console.log('Language changed to:', language)
